FFY 2020 LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

CALL IN or WALK IN

LIHEAP sign-up for the elderly, 65 years of age and older, and the legally homebound is effective Friday, November 1, 2019. Applicants may CALL-IN* or WALK-IN** on Friday, November 1, 2019. *The LIHEAP program is operated on a FIRST COME; FIRST SERVE BASIS AND FUNDING AVAILABILITY. GENERAL PUBLIC CAN NOT APPLY UNTIL Monday, DECEMBER 2, 2019.

To qualify for the LIHEAP Program, applicants must have a yearly household income less than or equal to 60% of the State of Georgia median income guidelines, as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For a one-person household, that would be $23,776; for two people; $31,092; for three people $38,408; for four people $45,724; for five people $53,040; for six people $60,356; for seven people $61,727; for eight people $63,099; and for each additional person; add $1,372 in household income. Households approved will receive an ONE-TIME allotment of $400.00 or $350.00 towards their home heating source.

All applicants will be asked to provide the following on the date of scheduled appointments:

  • Most recent heating bill or statement of service from the heating providers;
  • Social Security Cards for each member of the household;
  • Proof of Citizenship for each member of the household;
  • Proof of income for each member of the household for the last 30 days
    • (Proof of income includes paycheck stubs, a letter granting public assistance, social security or unemployment benefits, etc.); and
  • All applicants will be required to sign consent o release information form allowing the state to retrieve energy usage data from their energy provider and to provide proof of bill payment.
